Centrum Pile Shortlisted for Large Business of the Year in Newark Business Awards 2020

Newark based reinforced precast concrete pile manufacturer, Centrum Pile, has been shortlisted for Large Business of the Year in the Newark Business Awards 2020.

Over the next month, the judges will conduct interviews with the staff and employers to decide on the overall winners across the 10 categories. The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony scheduled for the 22nd October at the Newark Showground (depending on coronavirus regulations).

Centrum Pile’s Director Paul Pendleton said on the announcement of the shortlisting,

“At Centrum Pile, we appreciate the hard work of our staff and suppliers, and what better way to celebrate this than by being shortlisted for a fantastic local business award. Newark and the surrounding areas have a thriving business community and we are delighted to be a part of that.”

Centrum Pile impressed the judges with the initiatives it has implemented into its factory to reduce their carbon footprint in the manufacture of precast concrete piles and how it recycles 100% of its waste by sending it to a network of specialist waste processing facilities. The company also harvests rainwater which is used for the batching and washing out of concrete, with any waste concrete being used for aggregate.

Centrum Pile understands that the environment should be an integral and fundamental part of its business. Two years ago, the company became a proud partner of the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust; a corporate sponsor of the Beacon Hill Conservation Park in Newark, and a business supporter of the Nottinghamshire Nature Reserves Fund.

“It has been a really tough job for the judges this year because the standard of entries was so high,” said event organiser Sharron Marriott from Iliffe Media. “And the hard work is not yet over. Now, they have the incredibly difficult task of deciding the overall winners.”
